Motivation is one of the key elements in achieving your ideal body. Throughout the years I have seen much more people fall off their diet and workout programs than I have seen people stay disciplined. I have been consistently working out for a long time and have been pretty awesome at staying motivated. In this post I’m going to share a few secrets that help keep me motivated and have worked for others so that you can achieve your ideal body as fast as possible.
Monitoring your progress is the only way to see results. You can do this by taking pictures, measurements, weighing yourself, or simply looking in the mirror. Nothing is more addicting than results. If you are disciplined and working hard, then the results will be your motivational fuel. Get a cell phone tripod and a free photo timer app on your phone. Take pictures every week in the same spot at the same time in your house.
Get A Training Partner
Having a training partner can be a great motivator. It also holds you accountable to somebody else to be consistent. Days when you don’t feel like working out they will keep you on target, and vice versa. The best training partners will always be someone who is…
1-More experienced than you (so you can learn and stay hungry to “catch up”)
2-New to exercise (nothing beats the motivation of a newbie who is hungry and excited to be working out and making beginner progress)
Have A Clear Image
Your goals will always be better achieved if you have a clear image of what you want. I suggest finding someone with a body that you would like to emulate. This can be a celebrity, fitness model, athlete, etc. What I like to do is find someone who is a similar build as me. I look up people’s heights a lot so I know I have the frame to have a similar body type. Keep their images on your phone, fridge, walls, computer, or wherever to keep you motivated.
Watch Weight Training Videos
One of my favorite things to do is watch experts workout. I go to youtube for this. I love to watch bodybuilders and athletes train. They put an incredible amount of intensity and energy into their training and it never ceases to motivate me. Once you find someone who you would like to emulate, search for some of their workouts or literature.
Read Fitness Magazines
Fitness magazines are how I got my start. I used to go through them like water. I was the sponge, soaking up all the advice and images into my brain. It was crucial for my development and base knowledge. Now we have blogs and websites for free!
Find New Knowledge
Whether on the web, magazines, books, videos, or from conversations, new knowledge is power. When you hear about a new exercise or training technique, it can be extremely exciting and motivating to get to the gym and try it out asap. Keep your mind open and hungry for new knowledge. Don’t get stuck in patterns. I cant stress being a sponge for knowledge and open minded enough.
Yes I said it. When you are at a loss for motivation, it may be time to take a week or so off. In that time off, keep doing some of the things I mentioned above. You will see that you will be itching to get back into the gym in no time.
Hire A Trainer
Even right now I have a trainer who I report to every week and send picture updates to. Having invested my money and having to report my results back to my trainer keeps me incredibly motivated!! I can’t emphasize the importance of investment and accountability enough. If you really want fantastic results in your fitness get a trainer.
